General FAQs
How do I schedule with you or see your availability?
Both offerings, holistic counseling and therapeutic breathwork, start with a free discovery session. This can be booked using any of the buttons on the site that say ‘Book a Free Discovery Session’, using the contact form, or, if you prefer, you can call or text 719.204.3688.
Do you offer sliding scale or scholarship?
Yes! I work to make holistic counseling and therapeutic breathwork as accessible as possible and will work with those who are experiencing financial hardships. Please contact me to discuss options
Holistic Counseling FAQs
How much will it cost?
If you have insurance that I accept, you will only be responsible for your co-pay. The out of pocket rate for individuals without insurance or who have an insurance that I am not contracted with is $125 for a 60 minute session. A super-bill for services rendered can be provided for submission to your health insurance for out-of-network provider reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance company to understand what the reimbursement rate will be prior to scheduling a free discovery call so you can ensure that the service is affordable to you.
Do you accept insurance?
I do. I am currently accepting Aetna, Cigna and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Colorado and am awaiting contracts with additional Colorado insurances including United Healthcare and Oscar Health.
What do I ask my insurance company about in-network or out-of-network reimbursement for mental health services when I contact them?
I recommend first confirming that your plan includes mental health benefits, which most do, and once confirmed asking: (1) do I have a deductible and, if so, what is it/where am I in the process of meeting it?; (2) does my plan limit the number of sessions I have in a calendar year? If yes, what is the limit?; and (3) do I need approval from my primary care physician in order for mental health services to be covered?
Do you offer telehealth?
I do offer telehealth however I am preferring face-to-face, in-person sessions at this time. If you are seeking telehealth and would like to discuss if this might be available to you, please schedule a free discovery session.
Where can I learn more about the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of counseling?
I have included an Introduction to Internal Family Systems counseling in Resources. IFS is an evidenced-based practice, meaning clinical research has shown the promising effects of IFS work on the mind (depression, anxiety), body (physical health conditions), and spirit (personal resilience and self-concept).
Therapeutic Breathwork Specific FAQs
Where are you offering individual therapeutic breathwork sessions?
Due to the music and potential for sounding during sessions, I am working to find a permanent space as I am not able to do breathwork at Peak Wellness Collaborative. In the meantime, I am offering sessions in people’s homes and at JalaBlu yoga studio (301 East Main Street #260, Buena Vista, CO).
Do you offer breathwork remotely, via Zoom?
I do not at this time.
How long are breathwork sessions?
Sessions are typically 1 1/2 to 2 hours in length and include: (1) 15-30 minutes check-in/intention setting, (2) 45-60 minutes of Conscious Connected Breath, and (3) 15-30 minutes of debrief/integration.
Is there anything special I need to do before a session?
I recommend coming to a session well-rested and well-hydrated. I do not recommend substance use of any kind the night prior to a session. And I recommend arriving on time and grounded for the session. Arriving late and/or arriving in a state of stress or reactivity takes away from the breath session.
Is there anything special I need to do after a session?
I recommend taking a minimum of an hour of downtime after your session, to allow for further integration of the healing. And, if possible, to have little planned for the remainder of the day/evening as you may be tired or highly energized. Getting out in nature after is a great way to promote integration and ground yourself.
What are Conscious Connected Breathwork Community Workshops?
Community Workshops are typically two hours and have a maximum of 8 participants, all engaging in Conscious Connected Breath. They include: an introduction to breathwork as well as brief introductions among group participants, a facilitated breathwork session and a debrief/question-answer time. This is a powerful practice as participant’s experiences of cathartic emotional release can be magnified in the group setting. I recommend that participants have engaged in an individual session prior to attending a community workshop however this is not required.
